Mobile Media – Mobile Youth: trends and topics during a decade+

Over the past two decades such as mobile phones, laptops, PDAs, tablets and smart phones have been integrated in society at all levels. We have as individuals, groups and at the institutional level adapted mobile media and communication technologies in the ways we interact, access information, coordinate, experience, remember and share. The impact of mobile media has in many ways in particular been affiliated with youth cultural contexts although this refers more to the visibility of youth culture than to reality. This talk presents a historical picture trends and topics that have been predominant in relation to young Danes and their access to, uses of and opinions about mobile phones. Empirically the talk presents date from studies among 15 – 24 year old Danes repeated in 2004, 2006, 2009, 2011 and 2013.
